Producing Consultancy Services

Forget trial and error, give your next production the life it deserves with expert guidance

Hello! I’m Hannah

Ahhh producing. It’s not everyone’s first love.

I know. Shocking.

I really love my job. Producing is my jam. There’s nothing I love more than when someone brings me a brilliant creation and wants me to mastermind the spreadsheets to bring it to life. But there’s a reason producers are hard to find. Not everyone loves it!

You might be a writer, a director, a dramaturg or a performer by trade. You’ve made a thing, maybe you’ve assembled a team to bring it to life. But none of you have a track record of actually producing the kind of work you’re making, and/or the city/country you’re making it in. You’re happy to do the work, but you need someone to tell you what to do. Someone who knows the game and can help you skip that costly, EXHAUSTING trial and error stage.

How do you confidently negotiate with that venue? What can you really ask of your PR person? What’s the going rate for sound technicians these days? How much do you factor into a budget for insurance??

I’d never be so bold as to tell you producing is easy, even with a pro on hand to help. But it’s certainly a hell of a lot less bewildering.

Producing is small part logistics and finance, BIG part people management. It’s about inspiring confidence in your team and those relying on you, making decisions with confidence and being willing to stand by them. It’s a lot easier to do that with an expert in your pocket to turn to.

Hannah is a commercial producer and a coach.

She splits her time between raising investment for the new plays and musicals she produces and helping others figure stuff out. That’s all coaching is - adding a second brain into the mix to find solutions faster, achieve more and feel better.

Hannah’s coaching skills are what sets her services apart. She’s got the lived experience of producing - from the trepidation to the out-of-the-box thinking that really makes a difference. But she also has the listening skills to really hear what you need and respond with bespoke advice and support to help you get results.

“Hannah Crawford’s advice to us as a producer was invaluable. She seemed to have this unshakeable ‘can-do’ attitude no matter the hurdles ahead, and I think that’s something really important in any producer - especially when you’re looking for advice and support. She also gave us some really clear, targeted steps for fundraising strategies and avenues for our particular style and size of show, as well as giving us some defined and achievable milestones to get our show to the Fringe. I couldn’t recommend her services highly enough.

Simeon Morris - Creator of Square Peg at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

“Hannah’s initial offer of a free consultation session around self producing my one man show, was utterly invaluable. I was coming into Fringe completely green with no idea where to start. She gave me some spread sheets to help with planning, as well as valuable insight into what I need to focus on to get my show there. On top of that, she was always at the end of an email with encouragement and to answer my questions, despite being deep into producing other shows herself. Hannah is friendly, warm and very knowledgeable.

I literally couldn’t have done it without her.

Frequently Asked Questions…

Who can benefit from your Producing Consultancy services?

Our Producing Consultancy services are ideal for independent theatre artists and small theatre companies. Whether you're new to producing or have some experience, we offer personalised guidance and resources to empower you in your producing journey.

Do I need previous producing experience to benefit from your services?

Not at all. Our consultancy is designed for artists and companies at all levels of experience. If you're new to producing, we'll provide you with the knowledge and support to confidently navigate the challenges. If you have some experience, we can enhance your skills and provide resources to streamline the process.

What types of documents and templates do you provide in your consultancy packages?

Our document templates cover budgets, press releases, contracts and ticket sales projections. These templates are designed to save you time and effort, allowing you to focus on the important aspects of your project. If the document you need isn’t something we already have as a template, we can adapt this for you or work with you to build what you need from scratch.

How do the monthly calls and WhatsApp support work in your consultancy packages?

Each package includes a monthly call and WhatsApp support for that month. You can extend your support by adding additional calls for £95 each. The monthly call is your opportunity to discuss your project and receive guidance. WhatsApp support ensures you have quick access to assistance and resources during working hours.

Can I bring my team along to the calls with me?

Absolutely! You can bring up to three others to our calls. We completely understand that small theatre projects are often a group effort and it’s helpful for everyone to hear the same information and be part of the conversation. When it comes to WhatsApp and email support however, we do ask that this is with one primary contact within the team. It helps us keep things streamlined and efficient.

Can I extend my consultancy beyond the initial package?

Absolutely. We offer flexibility in our consultancy packages. You can extend your support by choosing a three-month or six-month package to continue receiving guidance and resources and we’ll pro-rata your fee. We're here to adapt to your needs.

I think I need fundraising and producing help. Can I combine these services?

Of course! We can add in additional calls and extend the support to do both.

How do you ensure confidentiality and privacy in your consultancy work?

We prioritise client confidentiality and privacy. Our consultancy agreements include confidentiality clauses to legally protect your information. We use secure communication channels and document sharing methods to safeguard sensitive data.

What sets your Producing Consultancy services apart from others in the industry?

Our consultancy is distinct because of our hands-on experience in commercial and subsidised theatre producing. We offer a unique people-first and abundance mindset approach, tailoring our guidance to your specific project. Our goal is to empower you with confidence, competence, and vision to achieve your producing dreams.
