Don’t know where to start with funding your next project?
Fundraising Consultancy Service
Unlock funding opportunities for your theatre project with Thistle And Rose Arts’ consultancy services.
This was our first ever big fundraising event!
Let’s be honest.
You’re a self-producing artist or small theatre company.
You know the next show you want to create is going to be great, but it doesn’t fit the Arts Council tick boxes. And you’re not interested in making it fit.
So now you have to go out there and find the money some other way… but you have no idea how to get started.
What materials do you need? Who do you talk to? Would anyone really want to give you money for your project? Why?
I’m not going to tell you “fundraising is an artform” or “it’s all about building relationships over time” because you can find that on Google.
Fundraising is 10% about the maths and the strategy and the glossy PDF. The other 90% is about leadership, confidence, money mindset, positioning and determination. We can help with all of it.
Hannah is a commercial producer and a coach.
She splits her time between raising investment for the new plays and musicals she produces and helping others figure stuff out. That’s all coaching is - adding a second brain into the mix to find solutions faster, achieve more and feel better.
Hannah’s coaching skills are what sets her services apart. She’s got the lived experience of fundraising - from the fear and anxiety to the out-of-the-box thinking that makes a difference. But she also has the listening skills to really hear what you need and respond with bespoke advice and support to help you get results.
“Hannah Crawford’s advice to us as a producer was invaluable. She seemed to have this unshakeable ‘can-do’ attitude no matter the hurdles ahead, and I think that’s something really important in any producer - especially when you’re looking for advice and support. She also gave us some really clear, targeted steps for fundraising strategies and avenues for our particular style and size of show, as well as giving us some defined and achievable milestones to get our show to the Fringe. I couldn’t recommend her services highly enough.”

Simeon Morris - Creator of Square Peg at Edinburgh Fringe 2023
“Hannah’s initial offer of a free consultation session around self producing my one man show, was utterly invaluable. I was coming into Fringe completely green with no idea where to start. She gave me some spread sheets to help with planning, as well as valuable insight into what I need to focus on to get my show there. On top of that, she was always at the end of an email with encouragement and to answer my questions, despite being deep into producing other shows herself. Hannah is friendly, warm and very knowledgeable.
I literally couldn’t have done it without her.”
Frequently Asked Questions…
Who can benefit from your fundraising consultancy services?
Our Fundraising Consultancy services are designed to benefit independent artists, small theatre companies, and creative entrepreneurs who are seeking guidance and support in securing funds for their theatre projects. Whether you're new to fundraising or looking to enhance your existing strategies, our consultancy is tailored to your unique needs.
I've never fundraised before; can I still benefit from your services?
Absolutely! We work with clients at all levels of experience. If you're just starting out, our consultancy will provide you with the knowledge, resources, and confidence needed to effectively fundraise for your project. We demystify the process and help you take the first steps toward securing the funding you need.
What types of funding sources do you help with?
Our expertise covers a wide range of funding sources, including donations from public figures, investments from private individuals, business sponsorships, grants from trusts and foundations, and even strategies for selling related goods and services. We tailor our guidance to match the best funding options for your project.
What sets your fundraising consultancy services apart from others in the industry?
Our consultancy is unique because it combines hands-on experience in commercial theatre fundraising with a people-first and abundance mindset approach. We offer bespoke, one-on-one guidance that focuses on your specific project, rather than general workshops with minimal support. Our commitment to empowering you with kindness, competence, and vision sets us apart.
How do I get started with your fundraising consultancy services?
Getting started is easy. Simply book a discovery call with us via the Calendly link on our contact page. This initial call allows us to learn more about your project and how we can best assist you in your fundraising journey.
Can I bring my team along to the consultancy session with me?
Absolutely! You can bring up to three others to a fundraising consultation. We completely understand that small theatre projects are often a group effort and it’s helpful for everyone to hear the same information and be part of the conversation.
I think I need fundraising and producing help. Can I combine these services?
Of course! We can add in additional calls and extend the support to do both.
Are there any prerequisites or specific requirements for clients to benefit from your services?
While there are no strict prerequisites, it's important for clients to share our belief that, as a producer or creative entrepreneur, they are capable of success in fundraising. Having a clear project vision and being willing to learn and adapt are helpful. Additionally, being prepared to share available project information and resources will expedite the process.
How do you handle confidentiality and client privacy in your consultancy work?
Client confidentiality and privacy are of the utmost importance to us. We maintain strict ethical standards and legal agreements to safeguard sensitive information. We use secure communication channels and document sharing methods to ensure data protection.
What can I expect during the fundraising consultation?
By the time you arrive to your fundraising consultation call, you’ll already have had the opportunity to chat to Hannah on your discovery call so you’ll get straight down to business. If there are others on the call, you’ll take a couple of minutes to introduce everyone; then you’ll present all the information you can about your project to Hannah. Hannah will spend the rest of the session asking targeted questions to learn everything she needs to know about your project and providing ideas, instructions and resources to give you the best chance of fundraising for your project.
Can I extend my consultancy beyond the first call if I need more assistance?
Certainly! You can purchase additional calls to keep the momentum going and ask further questions of Hannah. You can also add on remote WhatsApp and email support to your call for a small additional fee if you’d like Hannah’s eye on any materials you create or support in other fundraising efforts and conversations.
